For the past two and a half years, previously under the umbrella of another organisation, the team at Her Story Scotland CIC have been supporting girls and women in the Angus area. However, collectively the team have been supporting girls and women in the community for the past 15 years.
My name is Krysta Stoneley and I am the founder and Project Director at Her Story Scotland CIC. I live in Angus with my husband, two children and our dog Margo. I graduated from the University Of Edinburgh in 2012 with a Masters degree in Community Education and have been a girls and women’s worker for the past 15 years across various youth work settings in voluntary organisations. I am extremely passionate about being involved in work that offers girls and women a safe space to talk, learn and grow in a supportive environment where their voices can be truly heard. For the past two years I have been working with girls and women in the Angus community providing issue based group work sessions and also one to one support. In April this year I was inspired to set up Her Story Scotland, a social enterprise based in Angus for the girls and women in our community. Her Story Scotland CIC aims to support girls and women to be the change makers in their own story; increasing knowledge, skills and confidence through targeted issue-based group and individual work and I feel extremely privileged to play a part in supporting all the incredible girls and women that we work with.
I have got a background in social work and a lot of experience working in different social work settings. I have always been passionate about equality but even more so since having my own girls.
Girls and women still have a long way to go to get equal opportunities in our society. That’s why I love working with Her Story Scotland to support and empower girls and women to reach their full potential. In my free time I love reading books, going for long walks and wild swimming.
My name is Maria and I am a trained counsellor and Girls and Women’s worker for Her Story Scotland. I have a passion to work towards inclusive and supportive school environments by demonstrating Her Story values and I am committed to empowering women to embrace their individuality and develop coping strategies that enhance strengths and resilience.
I love to be an advocate for positive change, to support females in using their voice to feel valued and understood. I hope to help to break down barriers and promote mental health awareness within schools for an inclusive environment where difference and neurodiversity is celebrated and supported.
I live in Angus with my husband and very handsome dog Hugo. I am particularly passionate about promoting women’s mental and physical health, striving to create a supportive environment where girls and women can thrive and support each other’s journeys.
I really enjoy working with young people and have qualifications in psychology and counselling. I have a strong passion for supporting young people and a commitment to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and foster personal growth.
I live in Monifieth with my husband and two boys. I have been a secondary school English teacher for the last twelve years and when I’m not in the classroom, I can usually be found frozen at the side of the football pitch, watching my boys play. In the scraps of time I have left, I enjoy writing fiction.
I signed with the DHH Literacy Agency last year and I am currently working on my debut novel. I’m delighted to be involved with Her Story Scotland and the work it does in empowering and supporting young girls and women to become change-makers in their own stories.
I’m a devoted wife, mum, and Area Manager with over 16 years of experience in senior retail management. In work I’m committed to leading store operations with a focus on efficiency, customer satisfaction, and team growth across multiple locations.
Outside of work, I proudly serve as the chairperson for Her Story Scotland, dedicated to uplifting and celebrating the voices of women throughout Scotland. My days off are all about quality time with family and friends, and I’m always looking to fit in as many holidays as possible to recharge and explore new places.
My name is Clair, I’m a Specialist Optometrist and owner at Whittakers Eyecare, Carnoustie. People are at the heart of what I do, so I am delighted to sit on the board of directors for Her Story Scotland CIC. I hope to be able to bring healthcare knowledge, business experience and my passion for community to Her Story to help make a difference in the future of girls and women.
Outside of work, my children keep me busy and entertained! I try to stay fit and active, and occasionally manage to escape with a family holiday and a good book. I look forward to the future of Her Story and what it can to bring to the community!
My name is Charlene Mallard. I’m passionate about leaving the world a better place than I found it for my daughter and her peers, which is what drew me to volunteering with Her Story Scotland. I volunteer for Her Story Thrives, our menopause group, because I want to raise awareness about it and break down the barriers that are preventing women from getting the support they need during this phase of life.
