A 10 week term time programme for secondary school girls with a focus on friendships, self esteem and confidence, social media, body image and resilience. The aim of Her Story Starts is to build confidence and self esteem and to increase aspirations and positive life choices.
A 10 week term time programme for secondary schools girls following on from Her Story Starts which gives girls the chance to further develop their knowledge and skills of issues that are important to them and develop their communication and interpersonal skills. The aim of Her Story – The Next Chapter is to build on everything from Her Story Starts with a focus on personal development.
A safe space for girls to come at lunch time and have a space to chat, learn and chill out over lunchtime. This is currently on offer to secondary schools that we are already in delivering either Her Story Starts or Her Story – The Next Chapter.
Her Story Flows and Her Story Thrives allow girls/women in Angus a safe/supportive space to chat and learn about their whole life menstrual cycle. Her Story Flows allows girls/women in Angus the opportunity to learn and chat about different disposable/reusable menstrual products and take them away, impacting on their ability to participate in the community around them and helping to eradicate period poverty. As part of this programme we also have a Her Story Flows groupwork programme that we can deliver in schools and community groups. Participants in the Her Story Flows project will become better aware of their own menstrual cycle and have increased knowledge of products. Her Story Flows will also provide access to the variety of products and increase awareness of the environmental impact of products. Participants will also be supported to learn more about products, reflect on quality, variety and understanding the impact of our menstrual cycle to every area of our life and have access to these to take away.
Her Story Thrives aims to get the women of Angus talking about menopause, sharing their own experiences, breaking down the stigma and taboos surrounding women’s menstrual health and creating a community of girls and women who are empowered to speak up and offer support to other women struggling with menopause. With the hope that women start to feel like they are thriving through menopause rather than just surviving. We meet once a month – generally on the last Wednesday of the month at Reach Across in Arbroath. Please see our Events page for more details.
